Installation of IoT energy meters, environmental sensors, and smart lock systems

THE CHALLENGE
As part of its sustainability and digital transformation goals, the council wanted to introduce real-time energy monitoring and smart lock systems in its main admin building. The vision was solid — but the tech support to connect it all was missing.
OUR APPROACH
QVR was brought in to install and commission the smart systems, including environmental sensors (temperature, humidity, light) and network-connected energy meters. We also coordinated with the vendor to install and activate a smart lock system across 12 access points. All devices were configured on isolated VLANs, with secured access and monitoring handed off to council IT.
THE RESULT
- Full visibility of energy use across multiple office zones
- Staff now access rooms with smart cards and mobile credentials
- Council IT team received a detailed network map and integration guide
- Smart lock data feeds directly into council’s access audit reports
- All work completed without impacting staff access or power use
